19 leading companies join forces to step up alternative farming practices and protect biodiversity, for the benefit of planet and people

Biodiversity has been given a new business focus, following the launch of “One Planet Business for Biodiversity” (OP2B) by WBCSD and 19 companies at the UN Climate Action Summit in New York. This important initiative is designed to protect and restore biodiversity within company supply chains and product portfolios. Stepping up business action to 1.5°C

WBCSD has joined other organizations to endorse the ‘Business Ambition for 1.5°C’ initiative calling on companies to take 1.5°C-aligned climate action and commit to the 1.5 Pledge. In this context, WBCSD calls for corporate climate targets aligned with what science says is needed to limit global warming to 1.5°C - either by taking on 1.5°C Science Based Targets or committing to achieve net-zero emissions, no later than 2050. WBCSD calls for a price on carbon

A new WBCSD policy paper presents the reasons why business supports carbon pricing as a critical enabler to raise climate ambition. The paper calls for governments to put on a price on carbon and develop clear and consistent long-term carbon pricing policies as part of their national commitments and long-term strategies. The paper highlights major considerations for the design and developments of carbon pricing mechanisms, including environmental integrity, competitiveness, social impact and innovation. This call to action from business highlights business action for land degradation neutrality and drought resilience to improve the livelihoods of many. WBCSD India Day 2019

WBCSD supports new coalition of 17 global leaders joining forces to deliver the SDGs

WBCSD became an official supporter of a new coalition of 17 global companies called the “Business Avengers” to highlight the crucial role businesses play in hitting the targets of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. In its role, WBCSD is dedicated to supporting the coalition’s efforts to drive awareness, collaboration and action from the private sector towards achieving the Global Goals by 2030.


WBCSD and Circular IQ partner to scale up the circular economy

WBCSD and Circular IQ have agreed to co-develop an online tool in support of the Circular Transition Indicators (CTI)-framework, to scale up the circular economy uptake by business. The framework was developed by WBCSD and has been pilot-tested by 15 leading companies. It aims to help businesses calculate, measure and monitor their progress in the circular economy.
