Time to transform – GreenBiz21 keynote on how business must lead the transformation the world needs
WBCSD President & CEO Peter Bakker, together with Sunny Verghese (CEO and Co-Founder, Olam International as well as WBCSD Chair) and Andrea Alvares (Chief Marketing, Innovation and Sustainability Officer at Natura) engaged in a keynote session at Greenbiz21 to address the importance of positioning transformation at the core of business’ response to the COVID-19 pandemic and recovery efforts, and to tackle the roots of the climate emergency, nature loss and growing inequalities. The session provided a preview of WBCSD’s refreshed Vision 2050, a framework to guide business action for the decade ahead that is practical, grounded in reality, and designed to help companies drive change in their sustainability planning and business strategies.

Five inspiring women leaders have received the WBCSD Leading Women Awards 2020. The Awards are designed to recognize outstanding female leaders and to showcase their work in sustainability towards achieving the SDGs. WBCSD to co-organize Built Environment Day at COP26
WBCSD and nine other organizations have been invited to join forces with the UK Presidency to organize a dedicated 'Built Environment and Cities Day’ at COP26 in November this year. This follows the signing of a letter to COP26 President, Alok Sharma, calling for a Built Environment Day at the climate summit. This day will bring together diverse stakeholders from the buildings and construction sector, present concrete pathways to net zero and highlight opportunities for a green recovery.

Water Circularity Metrics - Tool application and guidance
WBCSD’s Global Water Solutions and Factor 10 projects, in partnership with the Beverage Industry Environmental Roundtable (BIER), launched the Water Circularity Metrics tool and Guidance. The tool enables companies to quantify their water circularity performance and monitor progress in the transition from linear to circular water management. The outcome indicators from the tool are included in the Circular Transition Indicators that support business in measuring circularity.
